Stijn Hoekstra is the next player to leave Groen Geel. He is the latest name in a long list of players who will play korfball somewhere else next year than in Wormer. Hoekstra returns to AW.DTV from Amsterdam.
The 31-year-old Hoekstra has played for Groen Geel for the past four seasons and has played an important role in maintaining the club in the Korfbal League in the past two years. From 2015 to 2017 Hoekstra already played for AW.DTV. Hoekstra will not completely close the door behind him in Wormer. He will be part of the coaching staff of the B1 van Groen Geel next season.
Deflation
Hoekstra’s departure is a hard blow for Groen Geel. After Kevin Dik, Carlo de Vries, Terrenc Griemink, Lisanne de Bruin, Fenna Jagtman, Scott De Decker and Lindsy Krop, Hoekstra is already the eighth player to look elsewhere. On the other hand, there is the arrival of Pjotr Kim from ZKV and Kiko Weenink from KZ.
Groen Geel barely stayed in the Korfball League last season. The squad survived the play-down games with Dalto and will therefore be active again at the highest level next season. In the new year, Groen Geel will be led by the new trainer duo Mady Tims and Chris Beuk.
