Defense Ministry announced 170 launches of foreign and Russian missiles – RBK

Last year, the Russian missile attack warning system (EWS) detected over 170 launches of foreign and Russian missiles. About it reported at the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“In 2021, more than 170 launches of foreign and domestic ballistic missiles and space missiles were detected by the alert means of the Russian missile attack warning system, specialized means of space control and anti-missile defense systems,” the message says.

According to the military department, the basis of the ground-based radar equipment of the early warning system is represented by the new generation Voronezh stations. At the moment, seven Voronezh stations are located in the Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Orenburg regions, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk and Altai regions. Later, the stations should appear in the Murmansk region and the Komi Republic.

On December 24, the first salvo launch of the Zircon anti-ship hypersonic missiles took place. The rocket can reach speeds of over 9.5 thousand km / h. Its tests began in July 2021, in 2022, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, they will go into service.
