In December 2023, the Ministry of Defense announced how much space the armed forces needs based on existing insights. The past 1.5 years has been investigated what the best places are for this. This looked at, among other things, the influence on the living environment, nature, the environment and support. The results of the investigation are in the so -called planner (Environmental impact assessment).
Space is scarce and there are several important social interests that require space. This requires a careful assessment. The results of this can be found in the Design NPRD.

Well -inform
People who touch this are personally informed.
State Secretary Tuinman: “The safety situation in the world and the scarce space in the Netherlands force the cabinet to make these choices. That makes citizens and companies aware of this, I am very aware of that. I have been sitting at kitchen tables, stood in the industrial hall and walked through the fields. I have felt the impact of the plans and the uncertainty of people with the uncertainty that we are doing well and the uncertainty of people with the uncertainty that we do with the plans and the uncertainty of people. Letters, but we also visit. “

Important results
It is important to combine as much space as possible. Combinations with nature for the extensions of military training grounds often turn out to be promising.
The location in Staphorst appears to be most suitable for the extra location for large -scale ammunition storage. For the centrally located barracks for supporting units, Zeewolde-Spiekweg is the preferred location. Lelystad Airport is that for the stationing of fighter aircraft, based on military co -use at a civil airport. It also appeared that a need of Defense cannot be realized in the Netherlands. No suitable location has been found for a new jumping area to train with explosives.
For the expansion of, for example, the De Weerterheide training grounds, several areas in Cranendonck and Weert have been designated as a preferred location. And that also applies to the expansion of the Artillerie Schietkamp for several areas in different municipalities in the province of Gelderland. All preferred locations can be found in the NPRD design.
Respond and follow -up
Defense keeps different Digital and physical information meetings. From 28 May to 9 July, everyone can respond to the NPRD and environmental impact research design by a view. Defense processes it in a bill of answer. At the end of 2025, the government will determine the National Room for Defense program.
