A deer was hit by a car on the Overasebaan in Rijsbergen on Friday evening around half past six. The deer ended up in a ditch along the road. Firefighters retrieved the animal from the ditch.
During the rescue, a firefighter put a blanket over the deer to calm the animal. He succeeded, after which he was able to lift the deer and put it on the side.
Animal ambulance staff put the animal on a stretcher with the help of firefighters. The injured deer was taken to the animal shelter in Zundert.
