In Pietarsaari, festival disappointment was proven on Friday, July 29, when the Pietarsaari Open Air event was canceled at the last minute. First, the domestic artists were canceled due to technical problems, but later the persistent queuers found out that the entire event has been cancelled.

lla’s headliners Deep Purple, Accept and Uriah Heep did not take the stage either.

Deep Purple apologized for the situation on their official social media channels on Friday.

– Due to circumstances beyond their control, Deep Purple is very disappointed to announce that they will not be able to perform tonight’s gig in Pietarsaari. The safety of the band, the staff and all of the band’s wonderful and loyal fans in Finland is our top priority, Deep Purple announced.

– There is no greater disappointment for the band than the cancellation of a performance, and we do everything we can to avoid such a thing. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do anything about the incident, the band wrote.

Finnish fans have shown their disappointment in the comments.

Iltalehti caught up with a visitor to the Pietarsaari Open Air event on Friday.

Esa Olli had bought two vip tickets for the Open Air event with a total value of 300 euros. What he was most looking forward to was Uriah Heep’s performance, for which he arrived with his entourage.

– We waited in line for an hour and a half. In fact, I didn’t notice at first that there was a Facebook message about being late. Lippu.fi announced that the gates will open later, Olli said.

Olli says that those waiting in line at the venue were not informed about the cancellation.

– Time passed and people started to come out of the gates. The cancellation of the event was announced on Facebook. Then another text message came from the ticket office, Olli described the course of events.

Unsafe stage

The event was organized by the managing director of RH Entertainment Oy Riki Huhtala comment on the event to Iltalehti. According to Huhtala, the stage delivered to the site was not safe.

They tried to fix it for eight hours, but time came and the stage could not be put in such a condition that it could have been performed on. According to Huhtala, the organizers of the event did their best to have a successful experience for their visitors.

– The stage was not safe and they tried to fix it. The safety of the audience, performers and employees is the most important thing for us organizers.

Deep Purple, Accept and Uriah Heep will perform today Saturday at Rock In The City festivals.
