Some decisions are said to have been made – but without significantly improving the situation.
Top dog Manuel Neuer should also breathe a sigh of relief at this news: A transfer of the Georgian national keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from FC Valencia to FC Bayern should be off the table. This is reported by “Sky”.
Accordingly, an exchange took place, but was “never at an advanced stage”. The reason: The 22-year-old should simply be too expensive for the people of Munich. Transfers from 30 million euros circulated in the media. A lot of money for a goalkeeper who could certainly have put a lot of pressure on the currently injured number one, but who would have had to line up behind Neuer first.
Hoffenheim captain Oliver Baumann (contract until 2024) would certainly be significantly cheaper, the name of the 33-year-old is said to have been mentioned internally, but according to the TV station his purchase is not “a hot topic”.
Fate of FC Bayern substitute sealed
Meanwhile, the “Bild” wants to know that Munich is planning to continue with Sommer as Neuer’s substitute for the time being. The Swiss was not in the squad for the test against Rottach-Eggern (27-0) on Tuesday, which fueled speculation about a farewell. According to the newspaper, however, he will go on the Asian tour with the German record champions (July 24th to August 3rd).
Inter Milan is said to have kept an eye on Sommer, but the Nerazzurri, according to “Bild”, are not willing to pay six million euros. However, the report still classifies a change as “probable”. Coach Thomas Tuchel should simply wish for a stronger goalkeeper.
This would probably also seal the position of Sven Ulreich. The long-standing Neuer representative was no longer believed to be capable of this role last season. The 34-year-old should therefore start his last year of contract as Bayern’s number three at most.
Incidentally, both “Bild” and “Sky” consider a U-turn at Nübel to be impossible.
