The 14-year-old Dutch boy who died on Tuesday in a skiing accident fell 25 meters after falling off the slopes for an unknown reason.
The Austrian police reported this in a message about the accident on its website. The boy was skiing with his family in the Hochoetz ski area. Around 1:50 p.m. he was skiing alone on a red slope when he fell there.
A skier found the boy, who was seriously injured from the fall. Another skier and a ski lift attendant tried to resuscitate the boy. The rescuers from a medical helicopter took over the resuscitation, but that turned out to be in vain.
Hochoetz is located in western Austria, about 60 kilometers from the popular winter sports resort of Innsbruck.
