Decathlon Germany now also offers second-hand products online

The German subsidiary of the French sporting goods retailer Decathlon has been selling used products in its stationary branches since 2019. The company announced on Thursday that this service is now also available in the online shop.

As part of the “Second Use” project, the retailer offers “returned products that are new or with slight signs of use for resale at a fair price,” explained Decathlon Germany. The range covers “a wide range from kayaks and scooters to bicycles, tents and fitness equipment”. The company’s goal is to “extend the life cycle of its products and thus make a sustainable contribution to the environment,” explained the retailer.

“The desire for an environmentally friendly cycle of goods is also growing among our customers and employees,” emphasized André Weinert, CEO of Decathlon Germany. “It is clear to us that we will expand our sustainable services in Germany in order to make our contribution to the environment. We look at the entire purchase process – we want to be there for our customers with our services before, during and after the purchase.”

The corresponding offers included “in addition to the sale of second use and the range of repair options at the local service points and regional workshops, as well as new services such as test & buy or buyback,” explained the retailer. The “implementation of the different measures” is “currently being checked for feasibility”.
