With all possible forcefulness, the PSOE spokesman, patxi lopezhas assured this Thursday that his party will not facilitate in any way the investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo if the leader of the PP wins in the next general elections of 23-J. In the debate of seven held by RTVE, the socialist leader has been clear and has rejected that the PSOE can abstain to avoid a hypothetical government of the PP and Vox. He has done so almost after two hours in which both he and the spokesmen for Sumar, ERC, PNV and EH Bildu have charged hard against the autonomous pacts reached by PP and Vox. Proof of this understanding has been the attitude of the popular leader, Cuca Gamarrawhich has never attacked the far-right party.
“You, by active or passive, if you can, should or force you, is it possible that the vote of people who vote for you trying to stop the right will go to make Feijóo president? Yes or no?”, questioned the ERC Spokesperson, Gabriel Ruffianto Lopez. “No” and “a resounding ‘no'”have been the answers that the socialist leader has given him, although he has not left Rufián very convinced: “What I suggest to people is that don’t trust“.
Both López and Sumar’s spokeswoman, Aina Vidal, as well as the rest of the leaders of the allied formations have stressed that they will not facilitate a government of PP and Vox. However, Gamarra did not appear concerned. “We will rule alone“, has sentenced after notifying his opponents that on 23-J “they are going to get a surprise”.
common front
During the two and a quarter hour debate, Gamarra has never addressed Iván Espinosa de los Monteros. He has not even recriminated that Vox deny sexist violence. Nor has it made him ugly that, in full direct, he has criminalized, once again, migrants. The interventions of the popular leader, with few proposals, have focused on criticizing the PSOE with the arguments that Feijóo already enunciated in the face-to-face with Pedro Sánchez: the effects of the law of ‘only yes is yes’the economic situation, insisting that Spain is at the bottom of the pre-pandemic GDP recoveryand the pacts with Bildurelating them to ETA.
In a debate that has had nothing to do with the bitter confrontation between the President of the Government and the leader of the PP, the dynamic of blocks that has developed in Congress during this legislature has been clearly visible. The spokesmen for PSOE and Sumar have made clear their intention to revalidate the Government and their usual partners, without ever offering a blank check, have shown their willingness to re-edit the coalition. Of course, Vidal has recalled that concentrating the vote in the PSOE to stop the right can be counterproductive and that Sumar’s ballot can be key to snatching seats from Vox in Girona, Valladolid, tarragona either Castellon.

However, the common front that the PSOE, Sumar, ERC, PNV and Bildu have led against the pacts of the PP and Vox has vanished in the section related to the land policy. Rufián has charged against López and Vidal for their rejection of a referendum in Catalonia. “What we are proposing is something so dangerous, how radical it is to vote. If someone has a better proposal, let them say so,” he asked them. “We will seek, with politics and dialogue, an agreement to understand each other and continue walking together“, López replied, causing Rufián’s anger for those “empty words”.
This has been the most tense moment of a debate in which ERC, PNV and EH Bildu have admitted that the macroeconomic situation is positive, but that it is not reaching families. In addition, they have made the PSOE ugly for its lack of courage in some matters and have reviewed some of the ‘hits’ of the legislature such as the housing law, who see insufficient; the labour reform, who have criticized that the dismissal was not more expensive; or the call ‘gag law’ which was not repealed due to lack of an agreement with ERC and Bildu.
