DEB women achieve a dream start in the ice hockey world championship

The German ice hockey players made a dream start at the World Championships in Brampton/Canada. The team of national coach Thomas Schädler beat Sweden 6:2 (1:1, 3:1, 2:0) and took the first step towards relegation, the tournament goal of the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB).

The opening match started with a cold shower. After a big mistake, Hilda Svensson gave the Swedes the lead (1st), ten seconds were played.

But the DEB team was not impressed, Franziska Feldmeier (19th/56th), Laura Kluge (25th), Celina Haider (26th/48th) and Svenja Voigt (34th) shot out the clear victory. Svensson (26th) shortened the lead to 2:3.

The DEB selection, which prevented relegation at the last second at the A-WM last year, is initially in second place in Group B behind Finland.

The leader of the table is the next opponent on Friday (9:00 p.m. CEST/MagentaSport). Only the last of group B is relegated.
