“The World Cup candidacy is prepared, everything is already underway,” said DEB President Franz Reindl of the German Press Agency a few days before the start of the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The official application would have to be submitted by 2023 at the latest. This should then be the responsibility of the new DEB executive committee, which will be elected at the general meeting in May. The 67-year-old Reindl had announced that he would not run again after eight years as president. After his failed election as World Association President, he then said that he still wanted to think about running again.
Norway also wants to apply. “The Kazakhs will also come,” said Reindl. The last home World Cup to date took place in Germany in 2017, when the DEB organized the tournament together with France. This time, Germany will once again be the sole host country.
