In the Monday broadcast of Today Inside Derksen says that at the time of the candle riot he had received many statements of support. Also from an unexpected angle. “Suddenly I had Willibrord on the phone. That was heartbreaking. I also did not expect when I recorded that it would be Willibrord, that man was really sick. That’s what he said himself.”
Frequin, who was long known as the boldest reporter in the Netherlands, turns out to be a fan from the first hour. “Since we’ve been here, he’s been a real supporter. With coaching, well-intentioned advice: he was always somewhere in the background. He wished me luck that we had started again, he was very happy about that. Then I think: dude, you have completely different problems on your mind. But no, call anyway.”

René van der Gijp took the first copy of Frequin’s biography earlier this year shy flail in receipt. Derksen: “René, you are actually his darling, I had the idea that he is saying goodbye to all relationships.” Gijp, visibly affected: „I was with him yesterday. He went really, really bad.”
On Monday, Barrie Stevens and Peter Faber, who flew over the world with Frequin for two seasons for the RTL program Better late than never, took in The Telegraph goodbye to their friend. The fourth traveling companion, Gerard Cox, indicated that he had no desire to reminisce about Frequin. Faber thinks that the actor and singer fits, because otherwise he “will judge him very radically”.
