According to the disaster agency, the damage is estimated at 257 million pesos (converted more than 4.5 million euros). In total, 2 million inhabitants, spread over thirty provinces, were affected by the storm.

Most of the deaths were in Leyte province, about 600 kilometers southeast of the capital Manila. At least 156 people were killed there. In the towns of Baybay and Abuyog, entire neighborhoods were destroyed. More than 300 rescue team personnel are still searching for missing persons, the vast majority of whom are from these two areas.
