The death toll from strong earthquakes on Japan’s west coast has continued to rise. At least 57 people have died in the hard-hit Ishikawa prefecture, television channel ‘NHK’ reports. In towns such as Wajima, Suzu and Noto on the Noto Peninsula, numerous houses collapsed or were destroyed by fire.
