The Venice Review court did not accept the defense’s request, the man is expected in the San Pio X structure next week
No house arrest: Wolfgang Rieke, the German truck driver accused of having run over and killed former cycling champion Davide Rebellin last November 30 in Montebello Vicentino, will end up in the San Pio X prison in Vicenza. This was decided this morning by the Review Court of Venice, rejecting the appeal of the suspect’s defender, Andrea Nardin, who asked for house arrest once Rieke arrives in Italy.

Following this decision by the judiciary, according to reports from Ansa, the driver will probably be extradited as early as next week. The extradition decision is dated July 6, after Rieke’s arrest on June 17 following the European arrest warrant advanced by the Vicenza gip for vehicular homicide aggravated by the failure to help. At the time of the fatal accident, Davide Rebellin, who was 51 years old, was training on his bicycle when he was hit by a truck that didn’t help.
