The accident happened around 12:30 am on the road towards Utrecht, just before the Maanderbroek junction. Two passenger cars collided for unknown reasons. One of the cars ended up in the guardrail, the second vehicle flipped over and came to a stop about 250 meters away. A second person was seriously injured.
The A12 was completely closed for hours for investigation. The road is now partly open again. Around 7:30 am there is a traffic jam between the Grijsoord and Ede junction, spanning 11 kilometers, with a delay of one and a half hours. Rijkswaterstaat reports this.
