Loan with option to buy
Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is set to join FC Barcelona from Fiorentina, according to reports from Spain. Like the newspaper “markreports the Catalans are working on a loan deal for the 26-year-old. The deal also includes a purchase option of EUR 35 million.
The latter could rise to €40m plus bonuses, making Amrabat one of the most expensive Moroccans in history. Amrabat, whose contract with Fiorentina expires in the summer of 2024, recently increased its market value by around 15 million euros due to strong performances at the World Cup in Qatar and is currently valued at 25 million euros. The right-footed player, who has only missed three games for his club in the current Serie A season, has also been associated with Atlético Madrid, Sevilla FC and Liverpool FC in recent weeks.
Update: 1:30 p.m.: Barcelona coach Xavi announced in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon that he was still looking for reinforcements, but when asked about Amrabat’s personnel, he kept a low profile: “We are open to signing a new player, Bellerín asked to leave. It’s our turn. (…) Sofian Amrabat? Of course he’s a very good player – but I can’t talk about players who aren’t here.”
FC Barcelona: Bellerin to Sporting, Araujo as a replacement?
Meanwhile, right-back Hector Bellerin could still leave Barça on Deadline Day. According to reports, the 27-year-old no longer plays a major role in coach Xavi’s plans and has only been used three times in the league to date. According to media reports, Sporting Lisbon is interested in a permanent commitment, the deal should be loud Fabrizio Romano participation should be anchored in the event of a possible resale. As an alternative to his homegrown Bellerin, the LaLiga club has already made an offer to the MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy to bring Mexican defensive talent Julián Araujo (21) to Spain.
Update 1:24 p.m.: According to the news portal “Relevo”, the fee for Bellerin should be one million euros plus one million euros in bonuses. Barcelona coach Xavi confirmed the defender’s imminent departure on Deadline Day: “He asked to leave, wants to play more, we totally understand.”
