Dead person in burnt-out car in Baarlo came from Poland, circumstances still unknown | NOW

The man who was found dead in a burned-out car in Baarlo, Limburg, on the night of May 22 to 23, was a man from Poland, the police reported on Wednesday. He had been staying at a nearby campsite for a long time.

The police now know that the burned-out car had a Norwegian license plate.

Officers found the victim’s body in a car on Galeiweg after a “series of loud bangs”. An explosion and the horn of a car were also heard. It is not yet clear what the explosions were, but these may have been shots.

It is still not clear what exactly happened. For the time being, the police consider it a crime and are calling on people with information to come forward.

“We are also investigating how the man ended up in a car with Norwegian registration,” a police spokesperson said on Wednesday. The spokesman declined to name the victim’s age. Nor could he say why the man was at the campsite.

Baarlo is part of the municipality of Peel en Maas and is located south of Venlo.
