A deceased person has been found in the Markermeer, the police said. The person was found during a police search. It is not yet clear who it is.
Yesterday afternoon a major search operation started on the Markermeer in which lifeboats, an airplane and a helicopter combed the lake because of a missing man.
The search yielded no results. At night, the search was discontinued because there was no longer any chance of finding them alive, a spokesman for the KNRM said. This morning the search continued with a sonar helicopter, which uses sound to search underwater.
It is not clear whether the body found tonight is the missing man. “The person is identified. That will take some time,” said the police.
