One person was killed in an accident on the N279 near Heeswijk Dinther on Tuesday evening. The victim was hit by a truck, police said.
The accident happened around half past nine at the height of the Steeg viaduct. A 112 correspondent spoke of ‘one lump of misery’.
The police do not suspect a crime. The cause of the fatal accident is under investigation. The scene of the accident will be cordoned off with fencing. Victim Support is called in for all those involved and witnesses of the incident.

The road will be closed for some time in the direction of Den Bosch to Veghel. The large amount of traffic that had come to a halt behind the accident was diverted.
