What exactly happened is unclear. The police currently suspect a crime. The crime scene at De Berckt has been cordoned off for investigation. Along the road are a golf club and the old Kasteel de Berckt, which is now used as a group accommodation.
It is difficult to say what the explosions were that were heard around 1.30 am, according to a police spokesman. It may have been shots.
