Dead dog found in the Maas, search for its owner

A gruesome find in the tributary of the Maas near Vortum-Mullem. A muskrat fighter found a dead dog in the water on Thursday morning. The search is now underway for the owner of the animal.

If there is one, a spokesperson for De Dierenambulance tells about the discovery of the brown dog, presumably a pit bull or Staffordshire terrier. “The animal was checked for a chip, but it was not found.” But it’s possible it once had it. “The body had already decomposed so far that such a chip could easily have disappeared.”

This immediately indicates how long the animal had been in the water. “You could already see the entrails. Then you’re not talking about a few days.”

The dog has probably been lying in that same piece all this time. “According to the muskrat fighter who found him, that tributary of the Meuse is completely closed off, so it cannot have been carried away by the water for a while.”

Witnesses wanted
The Animal Ambulance hopes that it will soon be clear where the dog comes from. “If someone misses the animal, the search can be closed with this. And if the animal was unfortunately dumped deliberately, we call on any witnesses to come forward.”

If you know more about the dog, you can report this to the Animal Ambulance via 085-273 88 99.
