Dead bird catches fire on train, train traffic is temporarily halted

A train at Eindhoven station was evacuated on Monday afternoon after a fire on the roof. The cause turned out to be a dead bird, which had caught fire.

Bystanders at the station saw black smoke and heard a hissing and crackling sound. The fire brigade arrived at the station with several vehicles.

The cause of the fire was on the roof of the train, it was probably a goose or a heron. This had started to burn due to the electricity that the train draws from the overhead wires.

All travelers had to leave the train and the platform was closed off to travelers for a while. ProRail and the fire brigade have solved the problem. The train stood still for a total of an hour. It then drove away without passengers to the area behind the station.
