One person was killed in an explosion on board the tanker NCC SAFA last night. Another person was seriously injured. The explosion happened off the coast of Egmond.
The seriously injured victim was flown by Search and Rescue helicopter (SAR) of the Dutch Coast Guard to parking lot P8 at the AZ stadium around 9.30 pm last night. From there, the victim was rushed to hospital by ambulance, media partner reports Dune Region Central†
The Dutch Safety Board is currently investigating the Ruigenoordweg in the port of Amsterdam, where the ship – which sails under the flag of Saudi Arabia – was taken after the accident. The Dutch Safety Board announced this on Twitter.
