The incident took place on Sint Lambertusplein around 7.30 pm. What exactly happened there is still unclear. The victim was resuscitated and an air ambulance was deployed; help was of no avail. A suspect has been arrested. Police have not yet released any information about the identity of the suspect.
Carnival activities discontinued
All carnival activities in Horst were stopped on Monday evening due to the stabbing incident that took place earlier in the evening on Sint Lambertusplein.
A festival was still going on at the Wilhelminaplein. The music was turned off, just like in the cafes. The catering entrepreneurs would have consulted together and decided to stop the parties.
Young people return home. The street has a stuffy atmosphere. Some passers-by cry and are comforted by friends.
“The party was over in one go,” say two boys on their way home. “We had just been in cafe De Lange for two minutes when the music stopped and everyone was asked to go home.”
