De Wuilus proclaims Prince in May | 1Limburg

Crazy Maondaagvereineging De Wuilus from Velden on Saturday for the first time in history proclaimed a Princely trio in the month of May.

In the coming weeks, De Wuilus will catch up with Crazy Maondaag, which had to be canceled in January due to the lockdown. The new prince leads the way in all festivities this month, culminating in the Crazy Moon Day Parade on Monday 30 May. In Velden, 24-year-old Prince Giel Boonen and his adjutants Don Heijligers and Bas Houben crawled out of the whistlers’ skis according to tradition.

protest party
Velden annually chooses a young bachelor Prince to remind villagers that the Crazy Maondaag was once founded by young people as a protest party against the guild parties where only married men and men over 30 were allowed to participate. Last year, the Crazy Monday was also canceled and De Wuilus did not proclaim a Prince. This season, the association decided to catch up with the party in the spring.

The parade on Monday 30 May in Velden will be shown on L1 and Omroep Venlo.
