De Roover: “Inexcusable that the De Croo government does nothing against the tax burden” | Binnenland

In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, Lachaert says he wants to take the first step towards a major reform, and then roll it out after 2024. He calls the extinction of the crisis tax. “But the big reform that will make people happy and lower taxes is for later.” On Twitter, however, Lachaert denies that he is already burying the tax reform of Minister of Finance Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V).

“The fact that one economic reform after another turns out to be negligible mini-deals is of course no surprise if you work with the PS on the basis of a vague government agreement,” N-VA party leader De Roover responds. “But now Vivaldi is also synonymous with standstill in this area. Belgium is one of the countries with the highest tax burden in Europe. First undo the efforts of the Michel I government and then do little or nothing fiscally for the hard-working citizen? That is unforgivable.”

According to De Roover, the government is making it impossible to implement a tax reform that puts less of a burden on labor income due to a lack of labor market reforms.
