Visitors who want to park a heavy car in the heart of Paris will soon have to pay eighteen euros per hour. The city council wants to keep out polluting, large and dangerous cars. Would this also work for our busy and narrow city centers?
Anyone who wants to park an SUV or other heavy car (the weight is stated in the registration certificate) in the center of Paris will soon pay 18 euros per hour instead of 6.
The rate applies to fuel cars and hybrid cars that weigh more than 1.6 tons and to electric vehicles that weigh more than 2 tons. The scheme can bring in a lot of money to the government.
How do you think about this? Will it work to charge much more parking fees for large, heavy cars? Will fewer people enter the narrow streets of the city? Or does the parking fee not matter and will there be just as many large and heavy cars in the city?
We are also curious whether you ever go to the busy city center by car!
