De Peiling: can Ajax still be saved?

The crisis is complete at Ajax, both administratively and on the field. The Classic yesterday went disastrously for the Amsterdam team and with a 0-3 deficit, the match was stopped in the 55th minute due to fireworks on the field. Hooligans then stormed the main entrance of the Johan Cruijff Arena. A few hours later, technical director Sven Mislintat was fired. In short: it is one big drama at the club. Can Ajax still be saved?

These are not good times for the Ajax players. The club has been performing exceptionally well for months and yesterday the low point was complete. The match against Feyenoord was difficult and the team from Amsterdam were already 0-3 behind at half time. At the beginning of the second half, fireworks ended up on the field for the second time and the match was finally stopped.

After this, the Mobile Unit had to intervene. Supporters stormed the main entrance of the Johan Cruijff Arena and the police had to use tear gas. Ajax says it regrets the Classic and the subsequent riots and unrest around the stadium. The management also apologizes to anyone who felt unsafe during and after the match.

Dismissal Mislintat

A few hours after the match, Ajax announced the dismissal of the now controversial technical director Mislintat. The German was already under a magnifying glass last week due to his role in the transfer of Borna Sosa. In the last transfer period he brought twelve new players to Ajax for a total of almost 110 million euros, but virtually no purchase has proven to be a success in Amsterdam so far this football season.
