De Munck takes silver in device final vault at European Championships gymnastics
Loran de Munck finished second in the vault at the European Gymnastics Championships in Munich. The 23-year-old Haarlemmer was good for a score of 14.700 in the final. Only the 38-year-old Armenian Harutjoen Merdinjan did better: 14,733. The bronze went to the German Nils Dunkel, with 14,633.
De Munck had already been good for the second score in the qualifications. Last year he stayed just outside the final at the European Championships and the World Cup, in which the best eight gymnasts come out. Twice he had to watch as the first reserve.
