These are exciting times for the nine employees of De Koning Woon & Interieur in Sleen. Today they are being updated about the future, after the judge declared bankruptcy for this company in home furnishings and interior construction on Wednesday.
Despite the bankruptcy, work at the company on Meulenakker has not been stopped, reports curator Ronald Klarus. “It concerns the completion of ongoing projects.”
According to him, there is a good chance of a restart of the company. “De Koning is doing well in the business market and has several clients, including internationally. By switching quickly and remaining in business in the meantime, the chance of a good takeover is greater. Two interested parties have currently reported, I expect that there will be more to come.”
According to the curator, the focus is now mainly on a quick restart. “It is best to have this completed within two to three weeks, to prevent ‘trade’ from disappearing.” Secondly, he believes it is important to investigate the reasons for the payment problems that have now led to the bankruptcy. “Nothing can be said about that yet.”
Based on an initial inventory, Klarus speaks of a debt burden of around €500,000 at the company in Sleen. “It then concerns the sum of payment obligations to the bank, the tax authorities and suppliers.”
According to the curator, it is difficult to say at this time whether current employees will keep their jobs. “That mainly depends on a takeover and the plans of a new owner.” De Koning has been active in interior construction since 2009. The company does not want to comment on the situation at this time.
