De Haan, Koksijde and Mooimakers take action against cigarette butts
Mooimakers, an initiative against litter and illegal dumping in Flanders, will focus this summer on cleaning up cigarette butts on the ground. The organization does this through a tour with a butt cargo bike along the Belgian coast in combination with litter enforcement. The cargo bike stops today in De Haan and tomorrow in Koksijde. With the cargo bike, people can lose their butt and they are offered a pocket ashtray.
The cargo bike
Mooimakers travels along the Belgian coast with a cargo bike to encourage smokers to leave their butts behind in the butt cargo bike. Mooimakers hopes in this way to make people aware that butts do not belong on the ground or in the sewer drain.
This cargo bike with a mission will not only arrive in De Haan and Koksijde this summer, but will visit numerous coastal cities. In July, the cargo bike cycles through Middelkerke and Ostend, among others. In the month of August you will find the cargo bike in Bredene, De Haan-Wenduine, Blankenberge, Zeebrugge and Knokke-Heist.
