De Haan is experimenting with digital deposits

All beverage packaging in the Center Parcs store has been given a unique QR code. You pay 20 cents extra per bottle, to get your money back afterwards if you throw it in the PMD bag.

Either you scan your bottle with an app on your smartphone, and the code or a trash can. The money will automatically arrive in your account. Or you can scan your bottle with the unique home scanning system. It is a pilot project to possibly introduce digital deposits in 2025.
