De Croo puts together expert group to guide government in economic crisis | Inland

When De Croo announced in the House at the end of March that there will be no index jump, he already announced measures that are necessary to protect the purchasing power of the middle class and, at the same time, also companies.

According to ‘Het Nieuwsblad’, one of those measures is an expert group consisting of four French-speaking and four Dutch-speaking economists. Pierre Wunsch, the governor of the National Bank, will chair the group.

Another possible measure to protect the purchasing power of the population is the introduction of a wealth tax. Within the federal government, the Greens, the socialists and CD&V are in favor of such a tax. “You have to get the money where it is”, they think. But ideologically, such a rich tax is difficult for the liberals to digest.
