De Bijenkorf shortens opening times during the holiday season

Luxury department store De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam will close its doors three days a week earlier for the next three weeks. The reason for this is the lack of staff during the holiday season, a spokesman for De Bijenkorf tells Dutch TV channel Rtl Z.

Amsterdam’s De Bijenkorf is normally open until 9pm six days out of seven. The store closes at 8 a.m. on Sundays only.

Starting next week, the department store will close at 7 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, according to the spokesman. “This allows us to continue to provide the level of service that our customers have come to expect from us with a smaller headcount.”
