After a nightclub conflict in Belgrade, the focus is on several basketball professionals from Partizan Belgrade. As the club confirmed, three players are said to have been involved in a physical argument on Monday night. According to Serbian media reports, the German international Isaac Bonga.
Three men were apparently injured in the argument, one of them seriously. He had to be taken to a hospital.
The background of the fight was apparently racist insults against the base ballers and their companions. An eyewitness reported to the Serbian portal “Sportal”: “They only provoked the girls because they were in the company of basketball players. It seems to me that they were also racially insulted, that is, they insulted the girls and asked them what they were doing with dark -skinned boys.” Then the men would have left the club and waited for the basketball players, where the fight broke out.
The injured men told the police that the dispute had assumed the basketball players. In a press release, however, Partizan rejects this version of the story. The club writes: “According to the information from the players, they were racistically insulted by a group of boys, while girls in their company were given the most derogatory statements just because they were in the company of people with dark skin.”
Then the men would have joined the players in front of the club and physically attacked them. And further: “As a result of the attack, they practiced retaliation against the attackers.”
The association announced that it would work with the responsible authorities. One wanted to check the incident internally and take appropriate measures in accordance with the club code. It has so far been open whether there are game blocks for the affected professionals.
