David Pujolar replaces Barry Bown

The British sporting goods retailer Footasylum is getting a new boss.

On Monday, the company said Executive Chairman and CEO Barry Bown will step down from his position. Bown will take on an advisory role with the financial investor Aurelius, which has owned Footasylum since the summer of 2022, the retailer said. In this role he will continue to “support the growth of Footasylum and other companies in the Aurelius portfolio”.

Bown’s successor as CEO has already been determined: David Pujolar will lead Footasylum in the future. Pujolar had most recently led the Italian sportswear provider AW Lab as general manager since 2016. At the retail chain, which is part of the Bata Group and currently has more than 270 branches in Italy, Spain and Portugal, he drove forward international expansion in the stationary and online business and established a new omnichannel platform and numerous technological innovations, his new employer explained .

Before joining AW Lab, Pujolar held various management positions at well-known industry companies such as Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger and Foot Locker.
