The Talking Heads’ unexpected comeback has so far only been limited to the re-release of their impressive concert film “Stop Making Sense” and a promotional tour characterized by good humor. But it was a way for the band to remember themselves again after years of silence.
This is one of the reasons why “Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense” is now being released, a cover compilation in which numerous musicians and bands have re-recorded the songs from the “Stop Making Sense” tracklist. Among them are Paramore, who interpreted the “Speaking In Tongues” hit “Burning Down The House”.
David Byrne apparently liked that so much that he had to return the favor. The Talking Heads singer recorded his own version of the Paramore song “Hard Times”.

Both songs will now surprisingly appear on a joint vinyl single on Record Store Day (April 20th). On the A side is Byrne’s cover of “Hard Times”, on side B then Paramore’s version of “Burning Down The House”.
In a tweet announcing the release, Byrne said: “[Paramore] told me that their song ‘Hard Times’ was inspired by Talking Heads, so I rehearsed it and recorded my version of their great song with a horn section. That was fun!”
Paramore singer Hayley Williams was also delighted with Byrne’s cover of “Hard Times”. “All I can say is it’s fucking crazy. It’s incredible. “It feels unreal,” she said. While the Talking Heads release their 1977 WCOZ radio performance at RSD, Paramore has a new pressing of their remix album “Re: This is Why” available to purchase.
