Dave De Kock handed over from the Netherlands to Belgium | Inland

Dave De Kock, the main suspect in the case of the murder and kidnapping of 4-year-old Dean Verberckmoes, was surrendered to our country today. His Belgian lawyer Peter Verpoorten confirms this.

The 35-year-old De Kock was in the Netherlands in the cell for unlawful deprivation of liberty and involvement in the death of the 4-year-old Dean. Dean’s body was found on January 17 near Neeltje Jans in the Dutch province of Zeeland, and De Kock was arrested earlier that day in Meerkerk, in the province of Utrecht.

The investigating judge in Dendermonde asked for his surrender for murder and kidnapping and the International Legal Aid Chamber in Amsterdam decided last week to allow the surrender.

The surrender had to be carried out within ten working days, but the Netherlands and Belgium wanted to work faster so that De Kock and his girlfriend RW could face each other. RW was also arrested on suspicion of murder and kidnapping, but it is not yet clear whether she played an active role in the boy’s death.

Roosendaal

Today De Kock was taken to the border with Roosendaal to be transported from there to the Beveren police. He will be interrogated by the Beveren police this afternoon, his lawyer Peter Verpoorten confirms.

De Kock will also be brought before the investigating judge in Dendermonde, but his lawyer cannot confirm whether that is already this afternoon or tomorrow. “I don’t have a view on the schedule yet.”

At the request of the investigating judge, the Ghent public prosecutor’s office does not communicate about De Kock’s surrender.
