An American comedian of controversial repute Dave Chappelle see you next Saturday hosting the highly popular Saturday Night Live panel show.
Chappelle has guest hosted the show before, once in 2016 and once in 2020.
Fans of the show went berserk about the news on Twitter. They commented that the situation was one that no one would have needed in their life.
– I am disappointed, but not surprised.
– There is really no other way to think about this than to be madly furious.
Backgrounds of the commotion
There has been a lot of criticism surrounding Chappelle, as his transphobic skits have angered people around the world. For example, in the sketch show “The Closer” shown on Netflix, he talked about gender in one piece.
– Gender is a fact. Every person in this room, every person in this world comes from a woman’s crotch. It’s a fact.
After the inappropriate remarks, up to 1,000 Netflix employees protested Chappelle’s remarks with a walkout.
In his previous visit to SNL, he also compared Freddie Mercury’s fight with AIDS to the way Donald Trump spreads the coronavirus.
In May, the comedian was performing at the Netflix is a Joke festival in Los Angeles, where a man armed with a replica gun and a knife attacked him on stage.
The comedian had joked just moments before the attack that he had had to increase security at the festival because of his trans jokes.
