Daughter of British corona hero Tom Moore pockets more than 900,000 euros after book deal | Abroad

There has been a commotion about relatives of corona hero Tom Moore, the British war veteran who managed to raise millions. The now deceased Moore wrote three books. His daughter appears to have kept the proceeds, 800,000 pounds (more than 900,000 euros).

That raises a lot of questions in the United Kingdom. Because in the prologue of one of the books it says that the money goes to charity.

Yet Moore’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, says in a TV interview with Piers Morgan that things are different. The woman, who lost her father to corona in 2021, says he had the time of his life when he wrote the books. “But they were his books. He had an agent who worked on his book deal. It stated that the proceeds would go to Club Nook.” Club Nook is a separate company from the charitable foundation in Moore’s name. She admits to having kept the more than 900,000 euros.

Her father raised almost 40 million euros. He became world news when he announced in 2020 that he would walk laps in his garden for charity. With this he wanted to support British healthcare providers when the pandemic was at its worst. Moore died in February 2021 at the age of 100.

The family disputes that readers were misled by the prologue. That the money went to the family would have been the wish of their father and grandfather. He would have wanted the proceeds to go to Club Nook, and not to the foundation.

Swimming pool

The Captain Tom Foundation no longer accepts donations. Tom Moore’s daughter was at the helm for a while and was paid a nice salary. That is why an investigation is now being conducted into the foundation’s finances.

British media also discovered this summer that a brand new spa complex had been built in Hannah Ingram-Moore’s garden. No permit had been arranged for the modern spa and associated swimming pool. So the municipality wants it gone again. She now tells Piers Morgan that she regrets the extension. “We shouldn’t have done that.” And if the municipality has its way, it will be demolished in the foreseeable future.
