ProRail will remove the badger sett under the track at Boxtel this Friday. The badgers will be given a new home a little further away. Due to the work, which will last until Saturday morning, fewer trains will run all day between Tilburg and Eindhoven and between Den Bosch and Eindhoven. The NS does use buses. “A bus can never replace the train,” says Arno Leblanc, spokesperson for the NS.
Leblanc also realized that Friday would be an extra busy day for the NS. For example, many students from Tilburg will want to travel home by train because of the Christmas holidays. “The work is carried out by ProRail, we depend on it. In this case they determine when it will happen.”
A bus every five minutes
Due to the possible crowds, the NS is deploying extra buses. “A bus will leave every five minutes,” the spokesperson said. Travelers should keep in mind that a bus can never replace a train. Only fifty passengers can fit on a bus. Much more on a train.”
By reporting the work on time, travelers can also decide for themselves how and when they will travel, says Leblanc: “It is wise to consult the travel planner in advance. Traveling home earlier is also an option. Work on the track is for all parties are always annoying.”
Badger sett again
At the beginning of this month, another badger sett was discovered under the railway between Boxtel and Liempde. At the beginning of this year, castles like that already caused major problems. Because the badger is a protected species, an exemption must first be applied for before the castle can be removed.
That has now happened and a large part of the work has already been completed. For example, a badger sett has been constructed near the railway, where the animals can now live safely. Until now, the trains have been able to continue running, so that is not possible on Friday.
Do you have to take the train? Then it is wise to read this overview:
- The Sprinter between Tilburg University and Eindhoven is not running. Stop buses run between Tilburg and Boxtel and Eindhoven and Boxtel.
- The Sprinter between Den Bosch and Deurne does not run between Boxtel and Eindhoven. Stop buses run between Eindhoven and Boxtel.
- There are no Intercity trains between Den Bosch and Eindhoven. Express buses run between ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven.
- The Intercity The Hague – Breda – Tilburg – Eindhoven continues to run.
- The night trains between Eindhoven and Rotterdam will continue to run.
- The night trains between Eindhoven and Den Bosch do not run. There are express buses.
This is how a badger goes about building its castle.
