The 18-year-old darts world champion Luke Littler has made a long-term commitment to his supplier. He signed a million dollar contract.

World champion Luke Littler has signed the biggest contract in the history of darts, according to his sponsor Target Darts. The company spoke of a “new long-term, multi-million pound contract”. Exact numbers were not given.

According to information from the British news agency PA, Littler will receive around 20 million pounds (around 23 million euros) over a period of ten years. Target Darts said the contract extension should reflect his exceptional achievements. Littler said: “My sponsor believed in me from the start and I’m delighted that we will be working together for many more years to come.”

Garry Plummer, chairman of Target, said, according to the British Independent: “I met Luke at the BDO World Youth Championship qualifiers when he was 12 years old and that day his father asked if we would sponsor him. We had never taken on someone so young before, but I saw something special in him and it was easy for me to say yes. It has been an honor to watch him grow since then, both as a player and as a person.”

Last Saturday Littler successfully defended the title at Alexandra Palace in London. He clearly beat the Dutchman Gian van Veen 7-1. The Englishman is currently number one in the world rankings.
