German darts professional no longer wants to come in to the Rammstein song “Ich will” in the future.
The scandal surrounding Rammstein singer Till Lindemann continues to cast its shadow. Now the consequences for the Berlin band have also arrived in sports. The German darts pro Martin Schindler no longer wants to run in to a song by the industrial metallers.
Schindler wants to distance himself
Schindler, who is currently 25th place in the darts world rankings occupied, from now on refrains from entering the hall to the Rammstein song “Ich will”. This was a conscious decision by the Brandenburg native, who was responding to the allegations of abuse against singer Till Lindemann.
“In any case, the walk-on song will be changed. I just want to distance myself and stay out of it, that’s it,” Schindler was quoted as saying on the sidelines of the Darts Team World Championships in Frankfurt am Main. “You’re not a darts player anymore, you’re also a public figure. Accordingly, you simply have to stay away from such topics,” the professional athlete continues. He leaves it open which song Martin Schindler wants to perform instead.
Others are also boycotting Rammstein
Meanwhile, a boycott of Rammstein continues to spread in the music world and society. Universal Music recently announced that it would stop working with the group. The technology and event company Riggingwerk also officially ended its long-term cooperation with the scandal rockers.
Despite, or perhaps because of, the ongoing scandal, the band’s success remains unbroken. Rammstein are currently represented in the German charts with three albums.
