Darts commentator Nigel Pearson dies aged 52

He was one of the most prominent voices in the English-speaking world and had been commenting on darts for Sky pay-TV for years. Nigel Pearson died surprisingly early on Friday.

The sports world mourns the loss of commentator Nigel Pearson. The longtime darts commentator for Sky UK passed away this Friday at the far too young age of 52. This was announced by both the world darts association PDC and Discovery Sports on their official channels.

Born in York, the Englishman Pearson was considered a proven darts and speedway expert and had been active as a commentator and moderator in both sports for years.

“We are all very saddened by the death of Nigel and send our condolences to all who knew him,” said Matt Porter, executive director of the PDC, in a press release on Friday.

“Nigel was hugely popular in darts and a range of other sports and was well received in the media for his unique style. He will be missed by all of us.” The association did not provide any information about the cause of death.

Pearson was a big fan of current English second division side West Bromwich Albion. He leaves behind his wife Kerrie.
