Michael van Gerwen has already recovered from an operation on his wrist. He went under the knife a week and a half ago. This weekend Van Gerwen wants to make his comeback at the Dutch Darts Masters. “Everything went well and I’m looking forward to next weekend,” Van Gerwen wrote on Twitter.
Van Gerwen had long suffered from a so-called carpal tunnel syndrome. This causes problems in the passageway between the forearm and the hand through which nerves and tendons run. Van Gerwen had the expectation that he would not be able to return until mid-July.
Just before his operation, the darts player from Vlijmen still won the Premier League. In a blistering final he defeated Joe Cullen.
The Dutch Darts Masters are Friday and Saturday in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. There is a total of 70,000 euros to be earned there. In Amsterdam, eight PDC top players will play against eight Dutch players.
