Darter Michael van Gerwen loses in Manchester in semi-final to Smith

Darter Michael van Gerwen was unable to follow up his victory over Gerwyn Price in the Premier League in Manchester on Thursday evening. The 34-year-old resident of Vlijmen lost on the fourteenth evening of the Premier League in the semi-final to world champion Michael Smith from England: 6-4.

Van Gerwen trailed Smith throughout the game who let him come back to 2-2, but then ran out again to 5-2 in legs. Van Gerwen was able to come back for two more legs, but then Smith threw 116 out.

Smith was too strong for Jonny Clayton from Wales in the final. Smith won that game 6-3.

After fourteen of the sixteen matchdays in the Premier League, Michael van Gerwen is in second place. He has two points less than leader Gerwin Price. World champion Michael Smith takes third place with 28 points.
