Darmstadt 98 professional convicted of driving drunk

Midfielder Marvin Mehlem (26) from the second division soccer team Darmstadt 98 was convicted on Tuesday of driving under the influence of alcohol.

As the “Bild” newspaper reports, the Königstein district court imposed a fine of 12,000 euros and a four-month driving ban for an incident from September 2020.

Carsten Wehlmann, sporting director at Darmstadt, said on Twitter: “Marvin Mehlem immediately informed us about the private incident and showed himself to be repentant and insightful. We dealt with the issue internally and closed it for ourselves.”
