Pal Dardai has a plan: at best, get to the promotion ranks in the table by Christmas. He stands by that, and he sticks to it before the game in Nuremberg: “I didn’t say any crap.”
The Hertha coach defended his plan to possibly climb Hertha BSC to fourth place in the 2nd Bundesliga by Christmas. “I can’t sit here as a coach and say that twelfth place is good,” emphasized the 47-year-old Hungarian on Friday in Berlin before the away game against 1. FC Nürnberg on Sunday (1.30 p.m./Sky).
“I always said, by Christmas I need a single-digit place where you can still see a little light, like making something nice.”
Equal points with opponents Nuremberg
The Bundesliga relegated team is currently in the middle of the table. With twelve points, the capital city team has as many points as their upcoming opponents. Whoever wins could get into the top third of the table.
“I have issued a plan that, in my opinion, is also feasible. You also didn’t say: That’s impossible, coach. And I believe that we have a very honest dialogue between the coaching staff and the team,” explained Dardai: “I think I didn’t say any crap, I can sit here today with a clear conscience.”
If they did “Block November” well, everyone would be happy, said Dardai. “If not, then we are somewhere in no man’s land. Even no man’s land wouldn’t be bad after the summer, but I have another path that I chose.”
