Daphne Bunskoek thinks that Guido Weijers went too far in his New Year’s Eve conference with his jokes about Princess Amalia. In it he was fat-shaming her. “Very inappropriate.”
In his well-watched New Year’s Eve conference on RTL 4, Guido Weijers made a number of questionable jokes about Princess Amalia, the future queen of the Netherlands. The comedian decided to taunt the 19-year-old girl with her weight. He thinks she’s too fat.
fat shaming Amalia
It came up when Guido told a story about bees. “I am increasingly asking the question: are we bees? Did you know that the nests of bees… If the eggs are unfertilized, males will hatch and if the cells are fertilized, they will become females. Hey, the workers or the queen.”
He continues in the conference: “But there is only one cell that grows into a queen and that is the cell that receives the most food during the first six days. That will be the queen. You can still see that a bit with Amalia.”
Big head
It’s not the only joke Guido makes about Amalia. He continues: “I understand that she will be the queen of the three princesses, because she also definitely has the largest head of state.”
He ended with a positive message. “But my real opinion about Amalia: I really hope that the people take care of the queen and that the queen does not have to be afraid of the people.”
‘Very inappropriate’
The fat shaming of Amalia is not well received by the people of RTL Boulevard. For example, TV connoisseur Rob Goossens says: “There was only one thing that I thought: okay, now we are going a bit off the beaten track and that was when Guido Weijers started fatshaming Amalia. Then I thought, well… I thought it was inappropriate and it wasn’t funny.”
Daphne Bunskoek is strict about this: “I don’t know if that is off the beaten track. Incredibly inappropriate.”
